02/19/07The New Triumphal Exhibition Works at the Palaty Complex in Vladimir
The exhibition titled The Tretyakov Gallery Opens its Store-Rooms and timed to 150th birthday of this famous Russian museum was held in Moscow’s Novy Manezh hall in 2006. It was the first exhibition for the last decades formed of the previously unexposed masterpieces…
Now the project is being continued in Vladimir. 54 works by 46 Russian artists of the 18th – 20th centuries are displayed in the Palaty Complex of the Vladimir and Suzdal Museum-Reserve.
When selecting works for this event its organizers tried not to copy the Tretyakov Gallery ‘in miniature’ but to present almost forgotten and even unknown paintings which definitely deserve public attention today.
Visitors will have a chance to see works by famed F. Rokotov, D. Levitsky, V. Borovikovsky, O. Kiprensky, K. Brullov. Rarely exhibited productions of the 2nd part of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century are portraits of Alexander II by K. Makovsky and O.D. Talalayeva by I. Brodsky, Dressing-Room by Z. Serebryakova and others.
The collection does not include any samples of socialist realism. The art of the first half of the 20th century is represented with the works by P. Konchalovsky, B. Kustodiev and I. Mashkov.
Of special interest is a small section of Russian sculpture. For the first time the Vladimirers have a chance to see the works by such famous artists as P. Klodt and P. Trubetskoi.
